Eating out in Harrogate

Restaurant Review: Stuzzi, Harrogate

Harrogate has a new deli-cafe, and we’re very impressed…

Arriving at the end of November, Stuzzi promised to bring a little Italian flavour to Harrogate. One wintry lunch time we rushed in from the cold to be greeted by smiling staff, upbeat music and this delicously thick cioccolata.

Sufficiently warm we then browsed the food menu. This featured ‘stuzzi’ – small Italian dishes served tapas style, platters from the deli, that day’s pasta and sandwiches on freshly baked bread. It was a difficult choice, but we decided on a platter to allow us to sample as much as possible.

With a vaierty of cured harms, hard and soft cheeses, pickles, olives and breads this proved to be a good choice.

We also shared a half portion of that day’s pasta – Italian sausage in a rich tomato sauce cooked to a perfect al dente finish.

You might think we’d be full, and we were, but we couldn’t leave without trying one of their deserts. We enjoyed a neoplitan donut covered in cinnamon sugar and a good strong espresso.

The next day we bumped in to friends who had recently enjoyed a meal there and highly recommended the limoncello cakes. We called in to get some to take home, along with little pastries filled with hazelnut chocolate – all delicious. Apparently their wines are also excellent and reasonably priced.

Stuzzi has got it just right, from the food and deli, to the ambiance and service. We hear the team have just returned form a research trip to Venice, so we can’t wait to see what new dishes are on offer!
