GS loves#4

Happy weekend all!

We’ve had a busy week at work after our weekend jaunt to Prague (blog to follow next week).

The rest of the time we have mostly been trying to keep cosy indoors, as the winds, sleet and rain have made outdoor activities less desirable.

I have enjoyed snuggling up under this thick blanket, reading magazines and drinking hot tea.

I have also started reading the first book of the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness. A Discovery of Witches is a magical novel set mainly in Oxford and is the perfect bit of escapism for a cold winter’s evening.

As we’ve been spending a lot of time in doors I’ve tried to make the house look as homely as possible and these pretty spring flowers have had me dreaming of the warmer weather to come.

Baking also seems to be a good antidote to the January blues & I’ve been enjoying toasted banana bread spread with butter.

We’ve been catching up on films and both loved Straight Outta Compton with it’s old school hip hop soundtrack. My greedy sister has watched Room which has just been released at the cinema, also very good apparently.

Other than hibernating I’ve been catching up with the WI girls at ‘Gingo Bingo’ at Harrogate pub 10 Devonshire Place, where the prizes are gin related & the tunes are a 90’s child’s dream.

Being a dog owner means I have to go out in all weathers, so I’ve also been enjoying getting lost in Harrogate, finding historical sights I never knew existed, like this grand old swimming pool .

The freezing weather made heading home to a hot bath even more of a luxury.

This weekend will be a lazy one for me, however the other sister is heading out to family-favourite Manchester House, I’m sure she will be sending me envy inducing photos too!
