A greedy guide to Easter

We love family celebrations so in the last couple of years we have made an effort to all get together for a meal on Easter Sunday.

One of the perks of hosting is that we get to decorate the house, which we do on a scale second only to Christmas.

We thought we’d share some of our ideas to give you some inspiration…

Decorate with spring blooms, buds and bulbs

We like to look for unusual varieties of narcissi, tulips and hyacinths. If you’re in the Harrogate area Jo Banks will be holding a plant sale and selling cut flowers straight from her garden this Saturday.

We created a centre piece by foraging for twigs and decorating it with Easter bunnies, eggs and chics. If you don’t have time to do this Waitrose sell pre-decorated pussy willow stems for £8.

Create a warm welcome

We’ll be hanging this wreath from Waitrose on our front door.

Welcome guests with this banner flag from Sainsbury’s.

Use confectionary as decoration

These Betty’s song thrush eggs will be the perfect accompaniment to coffees at the end of the meal. The biscuits are from Fodder and there are lots of different designs to choose from.

It’s not Easter without Mini Eggs and we use them to decorate cakes. Get the recipe for our grandma’s chocolate cake here.

Look for props

Think bunnies, lambs and chics. We got this china version from TK Maxx.

We’ll use these leaping bunnies from M&S to decorate our Easter baking.

As Easter often coincides with family birthdays we like to look for pretty paper to tie in with our theme. have lots of good options.

And finally…don’t forget to string up the bunting! How will you be celebrating this Easter? We’d love to here from you so please leave us a comment below.

Have a lovely weekend!
